Laser Treatments - CO2 Resurfacing

The Coherent CO2 UltraPulse laser with computer pattern generator is the Cadillac of skin resurfacing lasers. Available since 1993, time has proven this unit the most effective laser system.  It is still the state-of-the-art workhorse; it is considered the best in treatment for excessive sunlight injury on the lips, for acne scars, and for wrinkles and photoaging of the face. One treatment may make you look years younger.

The laser renews the look of aged, weather-beaten skin by gently and precisely removing the epidermis and upper dermis (outer and middle skin layers). The collagen shrinks and contracts, so not only does the skin texture look smoother, but wrinkles disappear and the skin "tightens" dramatically.

It takes several weeks for the skin to heal, and several months for the healthy redness and pinking to resolve. Be patient, time is our ally. The laser sheds the old weathered, discolored and wrinkled skin, and triggers more youthful, vigorous skin to form from below.

Of all the laser advances to be invented, the CO2 UltraPulse is one of the most exciting. Our doctors and staff have been involved in resurfacing for three decades with chemical peels and dermabrasion.

Case Study #1 - Wrinkles & Photoaging

Laura is an aging baby boomer.  When she was growing up sunscreens were not available. No one knew the evils of tanning, "cooking and frying" in the outdoors and she even used to hit the tanning salon. Her skin was now wrinkled and spotted. The sun damage had taken its toll on her skin. Was there any way to reverse the wheels of time?

Case Study #2 - Acne Scars

Corbett was troubled with an active complexion. He was very clean, he ate a good diet, and he used every over-the-counter acne product he could get his hands on. Nothing worked until Corbett went to Dermatology & Laser Associates of Medford. A five month course of Accutane seemed like a miracle - he had clear skin for the first time in years! But was there any hope for his acne scars?

Case Study #3 - Pre Cancers of the Lip

Enoch was an outdoor person. He worked construction, he river rafted and he loved gardening.  He seldom wore a hat, he never used sunscreens, and his lower lip was "fried" by years of sunlight injury. Rough white plaques and erosions developed on his lower lip. Lip balm did not cure it. A simple biopsy done at Dermatology & Laser Associates of Medford, LLP fortunately showed only pre-cancer, but it involved the entire lower lip. Freezing the entire lip causes painful blistering, and surgery would be extensive and cause scarring. Could modern medical science offer a better treatment?

Our Solutions

Dermatology & Laser now has 16 lasers, and one of them is the Coherent CO2 resurfacing laser. It is still the laser by which others are judged.

Using only local anesthesia and mild sedation, Laura's wrinkles and weather-beaten skin will look years younger in one outpatient procedure. Corbett's acne scars can be smoothed and shallowed out and made much less apparent. And Enoch can have his lip resurfaced with the laser. It will make them look years younger, the pre-cancers will be cured, and the chance of getting lip cancer will be prevented.
