Large Brown Spots

Andrea is an active mother and wife with an athletic lifestyle.  She likes to wear shorts and tank tops and bikinis.  During her adult life she developed a number of large brown spots.  Although sporadic and not associated with other health problems, she felt they were unsightly and she was embarrassed by them.  To cut them out would leave a scar, and liquid nitrogen would cause blistering and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (darkening) in her type IV/VI skin.

The staff at DLAM used the state-of-the-art pigmented lesion laser to remove the spots. The lasers vaporized the large brown spots in two sessions.  A lower setting was used on this patient compared to the higher setting that would be used on fair skinned Caucasian (Type I-III) patient.

Andrea felt only a minimally painful sensation, not unlike a rubber band gently snapping against her skin.  No anesthesia was used, and the sores healed in a week without scarring. Periodic retreatments may be required.
